It looks like the 62 workers at Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS)’s military payroll accounting facility in Cleveland, Ohio will not be losing their job after all, due to credit problems.
“The Defense Finance and Accounting Service have agreed to suspend a controversial policy of firing workers for credit reasons while it reviews whether it was necessary to upgrade their security clearances in 2005. The announcement gives a temporary reprieve to 47 workers who were about to lose their jobs.”
The employees of DFAS have access to employees’ pay, social security numbers, bank accounts and other sensitive material, DFAS spokesman Tom LaRock stated.
Employees’ should be notified that a background investigation is required on all employees’ of DFAS. Do you think they were ever told this, prior to accepting employment? That is why I believe that all employees should be prescreened prior to extending a employment offer.
